Math and Money is an educational curriculum designed on how to teach students about money, how money works in our society, about basic economics and about how to manage money! We strive to give students a fun but practical way to understand money and how it functions, giving students the tools for future success through hands on learning and real life application.
IT’S PERFECT FOR PUBLIC, PRIVATE AND HOMESCHOOLS!
To provide teachers with a tool that works! Despite many states mandating that financial literacy be taught, there is a lack of effective curriculum.
A Discovered Passion
Christine first started working on the curriculum 12 years ago when she took on a volunteer project to help a friend. She soon realized her passion for helping students prepare themselves for a sound financial future. The program has since been implemented successfully in the classroom multiple times!
“As a financial coach, parents ask, ‘Why aren’t we teaching our kids about personal finance in schools?’ As a volunteer project, I started teaching this curriculum in our local school. The response was so positive by students, teachers and parents, I wanted to open it up to a wider audience. Every state in the Union has mandated personal finance and economics be taught in schools. Despite the availability of many tools, there are few complete curriculum offered.
Each lesson has elements of math, history, spelling, real life applications and more. It is interactive, engaging, and includes spelling words, homework and unique grading methods. The lessons break down bartering, how money is created, how to count change, the value of exchange, and day to day use of money. Lessons are about banking, budgeting, careers and college planning and small business development.
In all lessons the students are graded with a weekly paycheck. The students are required to keep track of how much M&M money they have in their possession as well as in the M&M Bank.”
